Is there currently an internal roadmap that we might be able to get a peak at?Halo Reach: Deaths of Noble Team (Full Cutscenes)
Ultimately we want to get these games into player's hands as soon as possible. We're hesitant to commit to a firm time frame because the truth is they're ready when they're ready. Flighting will be critical to help us get these titles to a great place and depending on how that goes, it could lengthen or extend the release cadence. We'll definitely share more details as we start ramping up flighting.
Q:In regards to framerates, will Reach be playable at fps? Better yet, will there be a framerate cap at all? What kind of turnout can we expect for the flight testing? Will most players who sign up be accepted, or will the process be highly selective? But, as we move deeper into development on each title, we'll have to determine what's feasible within each game. We are exploring different ways to make a balanced, fun experience for PC and will share more details in the future.
We've been blown away by the interest and support for the Halo Insider program! Our goal is to balance accepting as many as possible against the specific needs for a particular flight.
Q:Hi ske7ch, thanks for taking questions! Will the upcoming custom games browser support community dedicated servers, like those found in Halo PC? And splitscreen? A big and great part of PC Gaming is all the mods that add years to a game's longevity. As we've stated, this entire offering will grow and evolve over time. The response has been amazing, thank you!
Our flighting team is working on building out the first audience based on the needs of the game. This is underway now and is really the determining factor for timing of the first flight. Q:Should we expect a Field of View slider, if so, what's the maximum it can go to?
How will the frame rate options be? Capped at 60, ? We will adjust what level of FOV is supported on a title by title basis. Uncapped framerate is the plan, but the specific level of support will vary by title.

Are you talking about crosshair? You can change it in your settings to classic. I want a lower viewmodel with a centered crosshair, personally. I think that is what the original poster wants, too.
DeschMetal wrote:. Hirotoro wrote:. Current viewmodel FOV is quite awful to be honest. It is too far forward and on some reloading animations you can see second arm when crosshair is centered I think. It's stupid. Pleasecan you move weapons BACK a little? Thank you. The weapons are too 'in your face' unless we use non-centered crosshair.
Could you add option to center crosshair but leave weapon view model as original on Xbox ? Kind of adding setting like Centered, Centered with Weapons and non-Centered.
Thank you I am not part of any flight but I watched Digital's Foundry video and found that one thing really jarring. Agree, the viewmodel needs to scale properly when the FOV is increased. I posted about it here before but the thread didn't get much traction: Shekul wrote:. I beg you for this small act of kindness, please, atleast for Single Player to keep the feel of the original game in tact.
On couch I have never noticed the fact that crosshair was moved down in Halo back then, but on PC it's much more noticeable and I would really like to keep feel of original Halos on PC, just with crosshair centered and with original viewmodels from Xbox Jokabaku wrote:.
Shekul wrote:.Halo Reach is the first of the series hitting PC as part of the Master Chief Collection, and its time is imminent, evidenced by the state of the demo I played at Microsoft's E3 Showcase. It feels like a PC game should. I remember jack-all about Reach's console version except that it's sad as hell and that I liked it because it was more Halo, except with a sprint button, and that's exactly what the early build feels like on PC.
Mouse control is precise and pixel-perfect with no acceleration or stick virtualization. There's no option to change settings during gameplay yet, so I didn't get to tinker with options as much as I would've liked, but things look sharp and natural at 4K resolution and 60 fps, even with the FOV topped out at Seeing Halo on PC for the first time in nearly a decade, I'm stuck on how well the combat has held up.
While it's missing years of UI and feedback improvements from shooters of a similar caliber that have released since hit indicators have spoiled usReach still manages to feel distinct today with its large, fairly open areas littered with enemies and vehicles and whatever weapons you can get your hands on. The opening moments of the demo throw you right into the sightlines of a dozen or so Covenant, and shortly after that your allies drop off a warthog with an attached missile turret.
It's absolute, unscripted chaos. I died about five times on heroic difficulty while trying to find the optimal way through the arena, and every attempt articulated differently.
On my first try, I circled a massive AA gun while an AI-controlled ally fired on Covenant from the back, but two ghosts eventually took us down, dumping me right on an elite with a plasma launcher.
I commandeered my own ghost on the second attempt, thinning out the Covenant around the AA gun from afar while my AI friend drove around aimlessly in the warthog, drawing some attention away from me.
That constant swing between desperation and brilliant improvisation is what Halo excels at, and it still works. Some of the sheen has naturally worn off with age, but it hardly matters because we can aim with a damn mouse now. Please deactivate your ad blocker in order to see our subscription offer. Better yet, will there be a framerate cap at all? Or rather, while it would still take a relatively long time to get to Inheritor, getting from Recruit to General which unlocks all armor for purchase besides Haunted should not take as much time. I'm really gonna miss my Reach Blue Flame Helmet decoration, but maybe will be nice and just make it an unlockable for everyone R3DBelmont wrote:.
That's good to know actually, especially since I always thought it was such a cool effect I like how you're pretending releasing a complete MCC package at launch will upset people but gouging people with a la carte purchases won't disgustingly dishonest. Players can purchase each title one-by-one along the way or wait until the collection is complete at the end.
We don't have any plans for a 'season pass' model. Mageh wrote:. Everything I've heard about this port has been great, but my one concern is the price. Gotta agree with everyone here regarding the a la carte pricing at launch. If they plan it out ahead of time so the combined prices of the individual games is equal to that of the final product, which in turn is equal to that of the Xbox price, it's a neat way to drip-feed content to our hungry mouths.
If it ends up just being a way to take advantage of people who love the series too much to wait DaddyBoro wrote:. Personally I think it's a wonderful idea to give the customer the options to buy specific titles or to wait for the full MCC to be polished and released.
I'll definitely be picking up each game as they're released individually and I'm extremely excited for flight testing to start. I personally love how interactive is being with Halo and MCC in the last two years.
It actually is getting me back into Halo and playing and meeting new people along the way with it. Reminding me of the good 'ol days.
I really can't wait to see what else will give us with MCC and the Halo franchise as a whole! I would be fascinated to see the effects of armor like the flames and that can be unlocked within the game, although even if it were a DLC mode I would love to have them.
Terg wrote:.Years of teases and waiting have finally ended with this: Halo is back on PC in officially supported fashion. Rewind toand Microsoft shoved out a Halo 2 port that required both Games For Windows Live and Windows Vista to run —and shipped in mod-unfriendly fashion. It received nary a patch or useful update and left diehard fans scrambling to patch it into decent shape. If you buy it on Steam, meanwhile, you get one heckuva cool option already: total mod support.
Simply pick the game's "cheat detection disabled" option upon boot and you can fiddle with every relevant file within a "friends-only" online sandbox, which is fair enough. In spite of some imperfections at launch, Halo Reach 's PC version is already a testament to a new attitude at Microsoft about PC gaming. Since Halo Reach is pretty well known, this article focuses squarely on what's new or different in this PC port.
For one, Reach has arrived on Windows PCs by itself, which may surprise anyone who sees that it's part of the Halo: Master Chief Collection— as in the anthology that landed on Xbox One in with a crushing, bug-filled thud but was eventually patched to a pretty shining state, complete with Xbox One X support.
Why is this anthology only one game strong on PC, when it's up to six games on Xbox One consoles? Xbox Game Studios has made clear that this piecemeal launch on PC is intentional. Instead of dumping multiple games onto Windows PCs simultaneously, the MCC team at Industries is trying to nail one Halo port at a time—and some wonky issues upon Reach 's launch confirm they're going the right route.
The latter will include all other MCC games as they launch, one at a time, over the next year-plus. A litany of sound-mixing bugs currently curse every mode in the game, which I was able to replicate by simply playing the campaign, versus, and "Firefight" gauntlet modes.
Sometimes, the sound mix goes all over the map, with volume levels surging or plummeting for various elements speech, music, sound effects with no rhyme or reason. There's also an overly touchy anti-cheat detection system at launch, which punted me from all public matchmaking after only playing one match. A quick perusal of Halo Waypointthe series' official forums, suggested I turn off the app that manages my Razer peripherals' backlit buttons, but this only temporarily fixed my problem.
But that suggestion only came via Halo Waypointnot as an in-game "news feed" update, which could leave less vigilant players wholly offline and annoyed. And for a customization-hungry crowd like PC players, Halo Reach is currently slight in the options department.
Most glaring of all is a lack of discrete visual toggles. You can't go into the game and pick out levels of anti-aliasing, texture size, ambient occlusion, or even a toggle for bloom lighting effects. And it's incredibly subtle stuff. As a personal nitpick: though Halo Reach on Xbox One consoles includes support for split-screen modes, its PC counterpart does not.
It's a glaring omission for a series whose chief Bonnie Ross previously announced that, going forward, all Halo shooters would come with split-screen options by default.
I prefer to connect my PC to my living room TV for split-screen gaming whenever possible.By AndytizerDecember 3, in Articles and troubleshooting. I thought it would be fun to make a thread which combines our impressions of the game which is about to release today.
At what time exactly? I've not stumbled upon Halo at all, so all I know of it is from others. Nostalgia aside, what's a good reason to get into it now in ? What's special about the series? I think it's a couple of things - most people consider the early Bungie Halo games real quality games. The campaign for Halo 1 was excellent - it had a great story and flow, NPCs that fought beside you, a big open map at the beginning anyway where you could tackle in multiple directions, the AI was really good and felt like each individual reacted realsitically, the vehicles with turrets were felt really good too.
Remember that this game came out in on PC and was miles ahead of other FPS games at the time. In terms of whether you should play it inI think you can ask a similar question of whether one should play Half-Life 1 or 2 in - it pioneered many aspects of FPS gaming these days, but I'm not sure if it's as fun or as relevant as other games released more recently.
Xbox login seamless and no issues there. It seems to be required in order to even get into the options menu. The first assault rifle in the campaign dosen't feel particularly interesting and has weak sounds.
When you launch the game there is an interesting 'Any-Cheat Disabled' mode specifically for modding:. No Anti Aliasing options? MSAA could definitely be implemented into these engines in this day and the performance penalty should be fine on modern hardware.
Halo Reach's TAA was poor quality and had tons of ghosting problems. Only issue I have is the in game audio dose not sound right. For example gun shot sounds sound really muffled. Found plenty of posts in the steam forums and sub reddit of others with the same issue. Working to fix ASAP but may take some time.
